Tesamorelin is a synthetic GHRH analogue — it mimics growth hormone-releasing hormone to stimulate the pituitary's natural GH secretion pathway. Its N-terminal modification gives it a significantly longer half-life than native GHRH while preserving the physiological pulsatile GH release pattern. For visceral adipose research and GH axis investigation via the GHRH receptor pathway, tesamorelin is the primary tool. True North Peptides supplies tesamorelin at ≥99% purity in 10mg lyophilised vials. For research use only.
Tesamorelin (TH9507) is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-44), with a trans-3-hexenoic acid modification at the N-terminus that protects it from rapid degradation by plasma DPP-IV enzymes. Native GHRH has a half-life measured in minutes; tesamorelin's modification extends this significantly while maintaining the same receptor target and physiological GH release pattern. It's the most clinically studied GHRH analogue available.
GHRH Receptor vs Ghrelin Receptor
This is what separates tesamorelin from ipamorelin. Ipamorelin activates GHSR-1a — the ghrelin receptor — to trigger GH release. Tesamorelin activates GHRHR — the native GHRH receptor — to trigger GH release through the hypothalamic-pituitary axis's own signalling pathway. Both result in pituitary GH secretion, but through different receptor mechanisms. Combining them activates both pathways simultaneously, which is why they're frequently stacked in GH axis research protocols.
Visceral Adipose Tissue Research
Tesamorelin has been extensively studied for its effects on visceral fat accumulation — particularly in models where GH deficiency or suppression drives excess visceral adipose deposition. Restoring pulsatile GH secretion via tesamorelin has been examined for its downstream effects on lipolysis and adipose tissue distribution. It's one of the few GH-related compounds with substantial clinical data in this area.
