Epithalon 10mg

Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) derived from epithalamin — a natural polypeptide produced by the pineal gland. It's one of the most studied peptides in longevity biology, primarily for its ability to activate telomerase — the enzyme that rebuilds telomeres, the protective caps on your chromosomes that shorten with every cell division. If you're researching cellular ageing, telomere biology, or the pineal gland's role in longevity regulation, Epithalon is the primary tool. True North Peptides supplies Epithalon at ≥99% purity in 10mg lyophilised vials. For research use only.

What Is Epithalon?

Epithalon (Epitalon, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide first isolated and studied by Professor Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology in Russia. It's derived from epithalamin — a natural polypeptide extract from the pineal gland — and represents one of the most studied compounds in the field of bioregulatory peptide research. The primary mechanism that has attracted longevity researchers worldwide: telomerase activation.

Telomerase — Why It Matters

Every time a cell divides, its telomeres — the protective caps on the ends of chromosomes — get slightly shorter. When telomeres become critically short, the cell stops dividing (senescence) or dies. This progressive telomere shortening is one of the hallmarks of ageing at the cellular level. Telomerase is the enzyme that can rebuild telomeres — but in most somatic cells, telomerase is largely inactive. Epithalon has been studied in both in vitro and in vivo models for its ability to activate telomerase, potentially extending the replicative lifespan of cells.

Pineal Gland and Neuroendocrine Research

Epithalon's origins in the pineal gland are significant. The pineal gland regulates circadian rhythm, melatonin production, and has long been associated with the regulation of ageing in neuroendocrine research. Studies have examined Epithalon's effects on melatonin secretion, circadian rhythm normalisation, and the broader neuroendocrine regulatory role of pineal-derived peptides in ageing biology.

Antioxidant and Anti-Ageing Research

Beyond telomerase, Epithalon has been studied for antioxidant activity — reducing lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage markers in aged animal models. Research has also examined its effects on cancer development rates in aged animals, immune function, and overall lifespan extension in rodent studies. Khavinson's group has published extensively on both short-term cellular effects and long-term mortality outcomes in aged animal cohorts.

What Makes Epithalon Unique

Most longevity compounds work on metabolic pathways — NAD+, sirtuins, AMPK, mTOR. Epithalon works directly at the chromosomal level through telomerase. It's a completely different mechanism targeting a completely different hallmark of ageing. For researchers building a comprehensive longevity protocol, Epithalon addresses cellular replicative ageing in a way that metabolic longevity compounds cannot.
